LUKE JAMES Deckhand

Crew
LUKE JAMES Deckhand

Luke was raised on the mountainous coastline of North Wales in the heart of Snowdonia, where his freedom to explore and seek adventure began. During high school, he sailed dinghies in the Irish Sea and explored the rivers of Wales by kayak. He subsequently studied business and management at Bangor University, whilst is his spare time working as a chef at a local restaurant.

His love of exploration developed into solo adventures to the Earth’s most remote destinations where, amongst others, he cleared paths through the dense Panamanian jungle and negotiated icebergs by raft in Alaska. Luke’s passion progressed to him leading others on trips in search of the Northern Lights in the extremely harsh conditions of the Arctic Circle and touring the Sahara Desert on motorbike.

His love for the ocean led him to sail on yachts in the Pacific, Caribbean and the English Channel where he trained to become a commercial skipper. Luke planned to join the superyacht industry for several years but chose to wait for the right moment to begin a great experience and lasting career. He joined SALU in early 2018.
